Trailmark

About us

Two people, one app, and a shared irritation with mile six.

Trailmark started in 2024 after the same thing happened to both of us on the same weekend: the signal dropped, the app we were using stopped recording, and a long day out came home as a blank line in a list.

Why we are building it

Most hiking apps are built for racing. They want your pace, your rank and your monthly payment. We wanted something closer to a paper log book: what you walked, how much you climbed, what the weather did, and the two photos worth keeping.

So we set three rules before writing any code. It has to keep recording with no signal. It has to be readable at arm’s length in bright sun. And your hikes have to be yours, exportable to a plain GPX file the day you decide to leave.

  • Recording never depends on a network connection
  • No feature is held back for a paid tier during the beta
  • Location data stays on the phone until you share a card
  • Every hike exports to GPX in two taps

The whole company

You will hear back from one of these two.

There is no support desk and no ticket queue. Names and details below are placeholders for your own team.

Nora Vance

Design and support

Hiked all six regions in the trail library before drawing a single screen. Answers the support email, usually the same day.

Longest day out: 22 miles

Theo Park

Engineering

Spent nine years building mapping tools, then got tired of apps that quit recording when the signal dropped. Wrote the offline engine first.

Roadmap

What we are working on next.

Placeholder plan. Testers vote on the order every month, and we move things when the vote says so.

  1. This quarter

    Offline maps on Android

Already on iPhone. Android build is in testing with a handful of hikers.

  2. Next quarter

    Trail conditions from your notes

Turn the notes testers write into a simple snow, mud or dry signal for the trail.

  3. Later this year

    Peak lists you can build

Make your own list, invite three friends, watch it fill in over a season.

  4. Someday

    A watch companion

Start and stop the log from your wrist. Wanted, not promised.
